It's Really Late

I know I'm supposed to do an update about Mike, then about me, but it's been over a month and most days I am desperately grasping at nothing to find the motivation to sit down and blog.  I've been pretty crappy at it lately.  So, what you get is me- at work- half dead from exhaustion writing the craziness of my mind.  This may or may not be coherent. It may or may not make a ton of sense.  It may or may not get deleted immediately after I post it.  As long as we're clear on those things I'll continue.

May I present: The random musings of my mind at 2:55am.

  • Happy 4th of July.  I love this holiday, although it's allure is less this year since there's a ban on fireworks in pretty much every county in Montana.  And not without good reason.  These fires are cray-zay.  But, I do love the founding fathers and I do love the good old US of A.  Go us.
  • Speaking of fires- Did you know there's a few Amish communities in Montana?  I just learned this.  My first thought was "no.... you mean Hutterite, right?" WRONG! They're Amish.  With the horse drawn buggies and all.  I guess Pennsylvania got too crowded so they moved out west.  The fires blazed all around their little community by Ashland, but apparently went AROUND it.  God loves those people.  He loves us all, but they are seriously REALLY good people.  And they make really good donuts.
  • It's hard to "live life to the fullest" sometimes.  As I sit here deliriously tired, I sometimes wonder why I torture myself with a graveyard job.  Oops- I forgot to tell you that (no update! doh!). I'm working security for the mine from 11pm to 7am a few nights a week. I keep fighting with myself thinking "I'm doing this for my family and the extra money helps, so I AM living in the moment because I'm doing what needs to be done to get out of debt",  and the next minute I think "But if I am so tired and cranky during the day that my family doesn't even want to be around me,am I really taking full advantage of my life?"  I haven't figured it out yet.  I'll let you all know when I do.  Probably won't be soon.
  • Want to know something funny?  I had to sign a "consensual relationship disclosure" form to get this job.  Since I work for a security company which is contracted by the mine, and my husband works for the mine, they made me sign a piece of paper saying that our relationship was consensual.  Like the marriage certificate wasn't proof enough?  And the two children?  Oh, the ridiculousness of it all!
  • I hate politics.  I want to be an ostrich and bury my head in the sand most of the time.  BOOOOOOO.
  • I miss the mountains terribly.  I went to my friend Erin's wedding over the weekend.  She was married at the foot of the Bridger mountain range near Bozeman, MT.  Oh, dear, it was glorious.  GLORIOUS, I tell you.  Colstrip is just...... just........ not that scenic.  I know it could be worse for sure, but man- I miss my mountains.  I miss them like a junebug misses a duck. Like a baby misses it's pacifier.  Like a flea misses the back of a big woolly dog.
  • I wish I could get married again and plan my ENTIRE wedding using pinterest.  No joke.  It's do-able.
  • Lately I've been trying really hard to choose happiness in every aspect of my life.  Right now I wish I could choose sleep.  Tomorrow I will try really hard to choose happiness instead of impatience, yelling, and all around poopooness.
