'Bout Ready to Rant the Pants Off Somethin'!

Ready for a rant???????? I AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I just posted about being more kind and speaking softly, but this just needs to come out of my system.
Things that DRIVE ME CRAZY: and not in a good, britney spears kind of way:

1. Peep toe boots.

Do I really need to elaborate on this?  No?   Too bad, I'm going to anyway- First of all, they're ugly as sin.  Second of all, they're hideously impractical.  Third, they're ugly as sin.  I am getting old and do not understand the "young folks and all their trends."

2.  People who compare raising a child to caring for a pet.

The other day I was talking to a woman who has a dog.  I did not know this woman personally, but somehow she felt it was appropriate to tell me how similar taking care of children is to owning a pet....... ya know.... 'cause they both potty train, and you have to teach them obedience and stuff.  Uuuhhhhh, what?  PEOPLE ARE SERIOUSLY POSTAL IF THEY THINK THAT IT'S THE SAME.  It's not.  Do you worry about the morals and values that your dogs are growing up with?  Do you worry about your dog's college tuition? Do you agonize and wonder if you're teaching them discipline, values, hard work, religion, and doing a good job of it?  Does every decision you make concerning your dog weigh so heavily on your heart that sometimes you think it will burst under pressure?

Uh, no.  I don't think so.

Teaching Fido to sit ain't really that difficult.

Please note that I really am an animal person- I think you can love them and they can TOTALLY be a wonderful part of your family.  But don't equate raising them to raising a child.  It's not the same.

3. Stores that congratulate you on buying their goods or using their services.

I couldn't figure out how to get this picture to a landscape, sorry.  Tip your head to the side and read the first sentence.

This little note that my hubbs got with his glasses made me irritated.  A congratulatory note? Really?  Shouldn't WE be congratulating YOU on the fact that you just got a crapload of our money?

So, that's it for now. I feel better!
I'm thinking of making this a weekly rant.
 hehehehehehehehhee.
 What drives YOU crazy?

Help Wanted

So, the other night cute Miguel and I watched a movie.

Seen it?  If not, you should watch it.

It left me sickened, sad, and unbelievably determined to eat better.
Just because I'm me, I seem to question everything.   I can't help thinking that it can't really be as bad as all THAT, can it?  Not EVERY company can be that malicious, can they?
Honestly I don't know if it's as bad as it came across in the movie.
However
If even a little bit of it is true (and I believe it is), it makes me want to change.
Change the way I eat, and MOSTDEFINITELY the way I use my dollar.
I want to spend my money investing in companies that don't raise chickens so quickly and fat that they cannot even stand up on thier tiny little legs.
Or chikens that spend thier life in a dark cage in thier own poo and never see the light of day.
Washed in chlorine and raised FULL of antibiotics.
Icky and oh, so sad.
I'm not an animal rights activist, but I had no idea what was going on and it makes me sick.
How can people think this is ok?

I grew up in Montana.  When you drive along the highway you see thousands of free range cattle.  They're just out there gnawing on grass like they should be.
I assumed that all my hamburger came from cows just like that.
I hope maybe some of it has.

But I have strayed off subject....

My questions to any of you who know:
How do you find out where your meat comes from?
How do you find out which companies aren't rediculously unethical?
How does anyone afford to eat organically?

I don't know if any of you have the answers.
If nothing else, you should watch the movie.

I'll be buying chicken and pork from the hutterite colony here in Billings, but other than that I am kind of clueless.  I have to go stalk a hutterite when I see them in Target, but hey- peace of mind  is worth it :)

Five whole years!

On December 17th (yes, I realize I'm nearly a month late on this) Mike and I celebrated our 5th Anniversary.
Honestly, the celebration was a little lack-luster.
With all the moving and christmas and crazy we decided not to get too fancy.
But, that's not a reflection on our marriage.  Marriage is still fabulous.
I love him a lot and he loves me a lot.  We struggle through little ups and downs and stressful situations, but always seem to come through it stronger and more united.

Anywhoo.... this year for our anniversary we decided to go to dinner and a movie.  We put the kiddos in bed early and headed off  to see Narnia. When we got there, however, the two teenage girls running the theater in Helena said that the show had been cancelled because the movie had.....broken.
  Huh?

While it was a little (ok, a lot) annoying, we decided not to let it spoil our night out. So, instead we went to Applebees and shared a blondie- Mike's favorite.  A few weeks later we did get to go back and see Narnia.  Go see it- it's good.

Yay for 5 years and 2 kids and a little bit-o-crazy thrown in the mix.
Feeling very blessed.

New Favorite

Last night I was bored. I got off work early, didn't want to go to bed, and (SHOCKER) I didn't want to clean or do laundry or anything productive like that.

So, after trolling around blog world and facebook, I jumped on our Netflix account (which, by the way, if you don't have it - you need it).

I clicked on "Babies"

My review? CUTEST. MOVIE. EVER.

Not much to it, just a camera crew following 4 babies from around the world from birth until about 1 or so.  No dialogue or anything.  You would think it wouldn't be that great, but then you fall in love with the babies.

The little Mongolian baby (Bayar) was my favorite because he was so funny and in to everything and reminded me of my Nolan.

This movie will pretty much melt your heart and make you laugh even if you don't have kids.
